The latest research to date confirming the danger of viewing pornographic imagery was just released (7 Jan 2016) by the University of Tasmania and states the obvious, "Porn viewers risk becoming child abusers."
While specifically dealing with child porn, this new report simply adds to the mountain of peer-reviewed scientific data detailing the harm brought about by viewing pornography.
New South Wales Assistant Commissioner for Police, Mark Murdoch, official police spokesman on domestic violence has previously said, "Porn is turning our young men into rapists." He added that the greatest growth area in the problem with domestic violence is the ready availability and use of pornography.
Former Victorian Crown Prosecuter Richard Read said there definitely is a "very clear link" between pornography and sexual aggression. Victorian Police Inspector Sprague ran the infamous Mr Cruel case, the largest law enforcement investigation in Australian history says he's "convinced there is a strong link between pornography and the amount of sex crimes we get."

Writing in Medicine, Mind and Adolescence, Dr Claudio Violatto claims that science proves the dangers of porn use in "clear and consistent" language and methodology. He says it is past time to investigate to see what other harm is caused by porn as science has already proved its link with unwanted sexual aggression, desensitisation and sexualisation.
The Director of Child Exploitation and Obscenity for the US Justice Department in the Reagan and Bush Whitehouse, Pat Trueman asserts that the main reason possessing child porn is a jailable offense is because those who view it, do it!
Our governments, State and Federal, should be more concerned about porn's proven addictive and detrimental effects on our most vulnerable, our women and children . Certain safeguards should be put in place to protect children from this addiction. One achievable goal would be, as the UK parliament is now addressing, to implement an opt-in provision for those who want Internet porn. Those who want it simply have to apply for it. Simple.
Today's climate pf permissiveness has reached such a crescendo that responsible Members of Parliament in the Queensland government, even the women, refuse to restrict Australian Penthouse magazine and freely allow children unrestricted access to its display, perusal and sale. Surely this is wrong. Perhaps they have all been looking at porn for too long?
With so much data now readilly available proving the harm of porn use, certainly the opt-in provision for Internet porn should be seriously considered. Imagine the millions of Aussies who have absolutely no use for Internet porn yet have to put up with it.
Certainly thinking humans can agree that our precious children should be protected from the addiction of hard-core pornographic imagery. An opt-in for porn users would be a good place to start!
