I firmly believe that the only reason we have seen the incredible and internationally recognised successes over the years in this "Winnable War" against those who continue to corrupt our culture Down Under is because we have always attempted to lift a Biblical standard from a Biblical Christian Worldview perspective; not a popular, religiously nice, culturally acceptable perspective, but a Biblical one.
Sadly, in Australia we have those who advocate for a government registry whereby homosexuals can register their sin. At the same time these deluded folks foolishly claim to have a Biblical Christian Worldview. Biblically we should proclaim forgiveness and freedom to sinners, not make them more comfortable in it. Shame that these same nice "Christian" activist groups lobby the government for such blatantly Marxist proposals as governments paying for their health care, education, rent and medicines. Shame they even think that it is the Biblical role of Civil Government to pay mothers who stay at home and even pay them to have children! None of these are Biblical positions for Civil Government and anyone with a Biblical Christian Worldview - those who have searched the Scriptures to see whether these things be true - knows it. There are those who even advocate adopting a popular new law from Norway, not Scripture, that allows their daughters to legally work as prostitutes! [Imagine William Wilberforce wanting to regulate the slavery trade instead of abolishing it!?] At the same time these same nice religious folks remain silent about the pornography legally sold to, accessed by and displayed to their children in the family marketplace.
"We look to see what the Scripture commands and then we amend it as reason demands" is a telling poetic verse. Biblical Christian leadership is what we need in Australia, leaders who rely upon God to honour His Word instead of discounting it. I truly hope I am wrong but I see this problem getting much, much worse.
Why can't Christians see these simple truths? Implementing immoral policies such as a homosexual sex registry leads to more immorality. Establishing Marxist policies such as government-as-parent leads to more Marxism. Initiating socialist policies such as government paying mothers who stay at home leads to more socialism. Do Australians not realise that NO Christian school in the US would accept a cent from the federal government even if it was on offer? How is it possible to imagine America having such tremendous and successful Christian educational institutions with no government funding? Can't folks recognise that God honours His word? That there should be no government funding of Christians schools is not a "harsh" idea, it is a Biblical idea. American Christians seem to understand that socialism is against Christ, Aussie Christians do not yet grasp this Biblical truth. Do we really believe Down Under that geographical boundaries determine Biblical absolutes?
God does not honour our "nice" religious feelings, although most consider these feelings to be paramount today, He only honours His Word. He always has and He always will.
A Biblical Christian Worldview recognises this and rejects all of man's puny and erroneous proposals that are against God and against His anointed. More men and women looking at the world through, as Martin Luther correctly stated, "the corrective lenses of Holy Writ" are who we need to lead today instead of those looking at it through the warped light of popular culture or unbiblical presuppositions. We are commanded to put our trust in God and His Word, not in (fallen) man and his (fallen) government. "Though none go with me, still I will follow" are the relevant words from the Christian song that should ring true to all of us today.
God's standard is what will prevail, not a Nordic standard, not a socialist standard, not a Marxist standard, not an immoral standard and certainly not a culturally innocuous, comfortably "nice" religious standard but a Biblical standard. This standard is what I have always tried to lift and why I have sometimes been successful in this raging battle we are fighting. In so doing we have been able to see some incredibly powerful foes fall. They don't fall because of me, they fall because God's Word. My 30+ year mentor in this ministry Dr Don Wildmon has always encouraged me to keep doing - and saying - what is right!
As I've always said, this is a "Winnable War" but we cannot win it if we do not fight the battles. Thanks so much for your stand with me in the arena, it is tiring. I need your help, your prayers, your financial support and your encouragement - our children's future is worth the effort!
When we bring Jesus into the picture, all the darkness has to flee. When we bring our "nice and reasonable" religious ideas into the picture, well, not so much happens. CS Lewis rightly opined that when we reach for the heavens we get the earth thrown in, reach for the earth and we get neither. All of us, myself chief amongst us, must lift our vision if we want to see the kingdom of God established on earth as it is in heaven, not as it is in Norway. After all, isn't that what we Christians should be about?
